Wall flower

Wow. I was again able to get really close and here is the result.

rest where available

I am proud of this picture. I was able to get really close without disturbing the particle inside the plant and without blurring the picture. This photography thing can be addicting

portrait

This is Duke. He likes posing for the camera. I felt he was a good subject for the portrait project. That is sun coming from the window on the left side. Tell me what you all think.

Macro

This project I had a little more difficulty with. None of the subject matter except my cat peeked my interest and I was fighting with my camera a little. I hope some of them came out decently.

Finding Light

I've uploaded the last of my shadows and light images to fotothing.  These two are my favorite - I was attempting to find light at the beach, so I shoved my camera (at the risk of my lens) underneath a bunch of sea grass and hoped for the best when I pressed the button.  I did work with the colors and light levels in photoshop and these are the end results.  Hope you guys enjoy!

Sky Shadowing

Ihad to get kind of creative with the shadowing assignment. Everyday I attempted to take pictures for this assignment it was cloudy and there was not a shadow to be found. These shots are taken from the ground looking up at the bare branches of the trees against a very snowy looking sky.

I took this picture with two lights above and behind the flower. I tried to see what would happen witht he lighting on the flower. It seems a little washed out. Jerry- How can I get the light to cast the way I want it to? I was going for a soft lighting to just bring out the blue of the flower, but I got a bit of over-lighting. Steph

Macro

Close up pictures are my favorite kind to take, but with this assignment I really used my camera and its settings to their full potential, I hope. The ideas are endless and I am still playing with different photos. More on fotothing...

Macro

Hey everyone, so here's two of my recent shots for the macro project. getting in close is definitely a challenge but fun to do. The flower was taken inside on a white mat with a desk light on high very close. The second was taken on a hiking trail while out with my dog I did some cropping to the picture to gain more focus on the berry and not the whole plant it was growing on.

Bud on a tree branch

As Robert Capa stated in our reading "If your pictures aren't good enough you're not close enough." I took his advice and hope that the shot is close enough to be good. Used a tripod and the timer so there would not be any shaking since it is very easy to lose focus.

Testing

I still testing how close the camera could get

"A Rose is a Rose by Any Other Name" (Shakespeare)

This was taken after a rainstorm and could not resist taking this shot for the macro project. Played around in Photoshop for a long time trying to edit this. Hope everyone enjoys it. Jerry, please let me know how I could improve it.
11/30-Jerry, I edited the photo and also changed it to B&W. Let me know if you think that it is better now.
Thanks,
Michael

Flower Fun Macro

You guys gotta try this! I was experimenting with water, a glass surface, dried flowers, and candle light. Check out myfotothing/nikkiturtle to see some more. This picture is not enhanced in anyway and look at the reflections from the water! Cool right?

Macro-Wall

The texture of the picture makes it unique.

Here is another attempt. Hopefully these are what you are looking for.

This is some old bamboo that has been in my house for quite some time. Probably needs to be thrown out by now!

Now from my camera (Macro style)

I'm having trouble with this setting on my camera. I'm still trying to see how close I can get and how much detail I can expect. Please, don't be shy with the feedback. Thanks!

Flowers

So, I tried doing the scanning, and I found that the images weren't as clear and sharp as I thought they would be. I did edit them, and I like how some came out. I will still work with my camera and the macro setting for this week's assignment.

God is in the Details

Beach Finds
.
There are so many little shells, rocks, and pinecones on the beaches near our house.
In my camera's manual, it stated that the closest focus is 11".
This tends to invite zoom-in with editing, but I am attempting to keep that to a minimum now. It appears sometimes that expanding the photograph provides more detail, and a crisper image.

I need to get much closer, but I love this photo, maybe we won't count it as an official assignment entry, just wanted to share.

macro

I find this project takes a lot of skill with the camera. A skill that i have not mastered yet. But it is fun.

One More....

Getting even closer....

Week 5... The Macro Project....

Welcome to week 5.... This week, I'd like you to push the limit on how close you can get with your camera... Here are some tips...

-Generally, you need to set your camera to macro mode.. each camera is different some need to go through the menu and others have a button or dial... the usual symbol for macro mode is a tulip though....

-Now move in very close and fill the frame ... go right up to the edge of what your camera can do... Make it sharp!

-If you don't set your camera to macro, your picture will be out of focus...if you go closer than your camera manual suggests, then it will also be out of focus....

-Don't just take a picture "of" something... create a new reality or spirit....

These are a couple I worked on myself...... Fading mini sunflowers... As you start to throw away flowers... stop and look to see what's there.....

Nice Lighting

This is a picture of my Son on one of my husband's work sites, but I loved the lighting from behind him.

Had to get creative

I had a really hard time finding a flower that looked alive enough in this weather to photgraph, so I took a potted plant my Mom had in her house, set it up outside on her deck and zoomed in on the flower. Later, I enhanced the photo in Photoshop, with a cool water color effect. Jerry, I hope this is what you were looking for. - Steph
