Hello

Hello everyone! Here is a picture of me and my son pumpkin picking two weeks ago. It was cold as you might be able to tell from his "are we done yet?" expression. I am coming to digital photography after having taken Intro. to Computer Art last mod wich I loved. I have always loved photography and when I went to Southern (my first attempt at college many years ago) the photography classes were the good old 35mm variety. Lately all of my pictures have been of my son who is a constant source of entertainment, but i look forward to getting into the creative side and am looking forward to this class.
My fotothing link is: http://www.fotothing.com/tracy77/ Hopefully it works...

update

Hello again! I am starting to get the hang of this whole online sha-bang. I just posted a few pictures from my trip to Cambodia. I am still trying to find the rest of the pictures that I had save in a CD-R. I missed placed it somewhere and cannot seem to find it. But for now, here is the link to my Fotothing: http://www.fotothing.com/behbee/

Self Portrait

Hello Again! On my first post I uploaded 2 self portraits that I shot and edited recently. I usually work in Photoshop and have not nearly discovered all that it has to offer. My favorite shot out of the two that I uploaded is the head on shot with the split color. Although I think the other picture is a better shot. I read the tips that were posted on the kodak website, and they were helpful. They suggested that we keep the flash on even outdoors; however, Jerry mentioned that we should turn our flash off while outdoors. Jerry can you clarify?

So What is Due This Week?

Hi everyone... this is the week that we get our systems up and running, our cameras working, and your software installed. You have become a member of this blog and you've set up your Fotothing account. On top of that I'd like you to try your hand at some inventive/creative self-portraits to post to Fotothing and to put one or two here on the blog.

Albertus has a new directive that they would like me to take attendance two times per week. I'll be recording that in the campus cruiser attendance log. So be sure to post twice before Monday morning. One post would be your introductory hello and the other could be your choice of either an inventive self-portrait or a one paragraph response to one of the readings for this week.

By next week, we'll be working on the assignment of working in a town environment or built environment and looking for interesting design and light as you fill your frame with structure. One post would be an example of the photography are doing and an invitation to view it on your Fotothing blog and the other post would be also a one paragraph response to one of the readings for the week.

Each Monday morning then, I will go through the blog and record attendance in Campus Cruiser according to the posts I see. I'll experiment this mod and see about getting you a grade based on the rubric posted as a link in the upper right-hand part of the blog.

Family Profile Picture

Hello classmates:

This is a picture of my husband Al & I with our 3+1/2 year old son Albert. I am 32 years old and expecting my second son due in January. The last class I took of Jerry's was 2D design, and it really sparked my creative side. I can't wait to see how this class opens my eyes to new ways of being creative. Sorry for the late post, but I had to delete my old account and start fresh, because I couldn't get my posts to post on the correct class blog page, my old class history was confusing the site. Anyway, everything is all straight now.

Hi everyone,

I'm a little late getting this post up. I'm looking forward to this class, my wife and I recently(about a month or so) took our honeymoon trip to Italy. We wanted to buy a camera for the trip that we could throw into a backpack and take with us. We ended up buying the Nikon P60, its a great little camera and its fairly inexpensive. We had a lot of fun and took a lot of pictures.

Finally!

"By George I think I've got it!" I've created my account on Fotothing.com and now have successfully joined the blog (which is my first time blogging!) I can't wait to learn some new moves in this class. I'm relatively new to the photography and digital art world; however, I feel like I'm just waiting to explode with photographic magic! Jerry, I'm sorry for calling you ALREADY! I won't make it a habit. I've uploaded a couple self portraits. Let me know what yo think. I'd love to read your comments.

Hello All

Hi, My name is Marin and I am 24 years old. I am from Southeast Asia, Cambodia, to be exact. I have a soul of an old person, yet have the energy like a young child. I'm not much of a fighter, yet I am still my own worst enemy. Reading, relaxing and hanging out with pleasant company is my ideal of a great time. Traveling is what makes me most happy. I have been living in the states for a little over 22 years now. This past May, I made my second trip back to Cambodia. I am so spoiled here and having the chance to visit a third world country was such a major culture shock. I have learned to be more appreciative of what I have here in the states. I will post some pictures of my vacation if anyone is interested in seeing it. This is my first online course and I am so confused as to how to work this whole blogging thing.

Welcome to Digital Photography 1

Hi Everyone and welcome to the blog for the Mod 2, 2008 online digital photography class!

This class may be unlike any other class you have ever taken. You success is entirely driven by your shooting and creative activity. Weekly assignments are designed you get you to see and think more "photographically". There are no tests or papers due in this class.... rather, you will be creating an online portfolio of your work as you move from week to week. Quality AND quantity count. Keeping up with your work on a week to week basis also counts. Everything you need to complete this class successfully can be found in the class syllabus linked from the list of links on the right. Wednesday I'll post a step by step "What do I have to do this week"? list of things to do. Not to worry though! This class is designed with the beginner in mind and it IS supposed to fun and enriching... I am here to help you succeed.

Any season of the year is good to be taking this class... o Fall is a particularly good time. ..Allow yourself time to shoot each week during daylight hours... it's your assignment to do so each week. Light is out until 6 pm now and getting shorter with each passing day...The very best light to shoot under is the hour up until sunset... say 5 - 6 pm or the hour after dawn. The light is beautiful then. I will be encouraging you to use light expressively throughout this class and no flash pictures are allowed!  With your work, try to make a point of shooting while you have light... You might want to change your routine and allow yourself 15 or 20 minutes in the morning before heading off to work to do your shooting.

....You can post to the blog and your portfolio from any computer on the Internet from any where in the world. I'm looking forward to getting started with you...

-Jerry
